ABOUT THE RECREATION GROUND

Grade Ruan Recreation Ground (the "Rec"), situated in Ruan Minor, Cornwall, is for the use of residents of Grade Ruan Parish and visitors to the area. Facilities currently include: Tennis court, which also provides a Multi Use Games Area, Football pitch, Pavilion and a Children’s play area (managed by the Parish Council).

Grade Ruan Recreation Ground (the “Rec”), was gifted to the Parish in 1949 by Mrs Alison Johnstone of the Trewithen Estate. The original trust deed was replaced in 2000 by a scheme registered by the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales, and the charity is managed by a board of Trustees, elected and co-opted under the terms of the scheme.

The object of the charity is: In the interests of social welfare, to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants of the area without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, by the provision and maintenance of a recreation ground. Grade Ruan Parish Council is the custodian trustee of the charity. Under the terms of the scheme, the land must be retained for use for the object of the Charity.

Events are held throughout the year, notably: May Carnival, Quiz most Mondays, Sunshine Club every Wednesday, Bar evenings every Friday, with  on-site catering, Bonfire night fireworks party, Special events, Ad hoc band and bar evenings The pavilion is available for meetings, games, special events, private parties, wedding receptions, funeral receptions, for which there is a rental charge.
